Reflections on Cornucopia 2014 – and a Special Offer

Date Added: 02 Oct 2014

As the last few things are being cleared from the site, it’s time to reflect on this year’s festival and look forward to next year.

Having moved the festival three times since it began in began in 2012, we have found our home now. Burton Constable Hall is the perfect place for us to develop as a festival. The Cornucopia Team would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Trustees, The Burton Constable Foundation and all the staff for their generous help and support, which has contributed hugely to the success of this year’s festival.

During the weekend we staged over 50 bands and musicians on 4 stages. Judging by the feedback we are receiving everyone liked the mix of international, national and local artists. It is satisfying to hear everyone enjoyed the atmosphere; this is something we are very passionate about. We have created areas within the festival which have their own identity and we hope will now continue to develop.

  • The Chill tent has been a huge success and the story telling, poetry, comedy and theatre has added many new levels to the festival.
  • The Land of Green Ginger with its green fair and children’s activities was a hive of activity. The Rusticus Theatre group, Captain Kipper and Professor Fiddlesticks all adding to colourful mayhem within the square.
  • The stable courtyards have added a whole new dimension to the festival - around the fringes we have been able to add an art exhibition, Debi Keable’s light installation fitted so well into the buildings. The pop up cinema was also a wonderful new addition. Saturday evening showed the true potential of the courtyards, they were buzzing with crowds of people soaking up the wonderful atmosphere, listening to buskers performing anything from jazz to classical violin.
  • The main venue in the old riding school is the centre of the festival; we can now offer a major venue with top spec production, the perfect place to showcase major artists.
